Docterz Raises ₹5 Crore to Accelerate Growth

Indian healthcare technology startup Docterz has raised ₹5 crore from approximately 35 investors to expand its digital healthcare platform, develop artificial intelligence (AI) tools, and reach more doctors and healthcare organisations across India.

Founded by practising paediatrician Dr Atish Laddad, Docterz provides digital tools that help doctors manage clinical and administrative activities through a single platform.

The funding round includes significant participation from doctors who already use the company's software. Around 20 doctor-investors contributed nearly ₹3 crore, representing approximately 60% of the total funding.

Other investors include Vineeta Singh, co-founder and CEO of SUGAR Cosmetics, and Avnish Anand, co-founder and former CEO of CaratLane.

A Digital Platform for Doctors and Clinics

Docterz combines several essential clinic-management functions, including electronic medical records, appointment scheduling, billing, vaccination management, and patient engagement.

These tools help doctors organise patient information, manage appointments and follow-ups, and reduce the administrative workload associated with running a medical practice.

According to the company, its platform supports more than 5,000 doctors across India, with a strong presence in paediatrics.

The platform is designed to address the everyday operational challenges faced by independent practitioners and smaller clinics, which may not have access to the technology infrastructure available to larger hospital networks.

AI Tools and Expansion Plans

Docterz plans to use the new capital to strengthen its existing business, explore potential acquisitions, and develop practical AI-powered tools for healthcare professionals.

The planned AI capabilities will focus on everyday clinical and practice-management tasks, including documentation, administrative workflows, practice data analysis, and patient follow-up.

The company also intends to expand its reach among independent doctors, smaller clinics, and healthcare organisations across India.

Rather than treating AI as a standalone feature, Docterz aims to integrate useful technology into the workflows doctors already follow. The objective is to help medical professionals manage routine tasks more efficiently while keeping clinical decisions in the hands of qualified practitioners.

Doctors Invest in a Platform They Already Use

One of the notable aspects of the funding round is the participation of doctors who are existing Docterz users.

Their investment reflects confidence based on direct experience with the platform and its potential to address practical challenges in medical practice.

Founder Dr Atish Laddad developed the business after recognising the administrative demands that doctors face alongside patient care. The company's approach centres on building technology around practitioners' needs while maintaining patient-data privacy, security, and clinical independence.

Customer participation as investors could also help the company maintain close feedback loops as it develops new products and expands its services.

Strengthening India's Digital Healthcare Ecosystem

India's healthcare sector is increasingly adopting digital records, connected health platforms, and AI-assisted tools. However, independent practitioners and smaller clinics still need accessible solutions that fit their daily operations.

Platforms such as Docterz aim to bridge this gap by bringing essential practice-management functions together in one system.

The new funding allows the company to broaden adoption, improve its technology, and explore additional growth opportunities.

As Docterz expands, its progress will depend on how effectively it develops useful AI capabilities, builds trust among medical professionals, and supports the changing needs of clinics across India.
